Downtown Topeka Post Office has chipped paint, cracked windows and broken elevators. That's just what we can see, so what can be done? "The Downtown Topeka Post Office at 424 S. Kansas Ave. is showing its age. The elevators don't work. The glass in one door of the main entrance is cracked. Three other doors at that entrance don't work. Each bears a sign that says "Do Not Use!!!" Chipped paint mars the appearance of the ceiling inside the massive limestone structure where the post office has operated since 1933. And that's just the decline visible to the public, which has limited access to the building."
