"This week — on Thursday, November 11 — the nation will collectively pay tribute to the more than 41 million Americans who have served our country throughout its history. According to Census Bureau statistics, some 18 million are still alive, ranging in ages from 18 to more than 100.
Service in the U.S. Armed Forces has always been — and continues to be — one of the greatest expressions of American patriotism. It’s an expression both the U.S. Postal Service and the OIG not only respect and honor, but also appreciate. USPS employs nearly 73,000 military reservists and veterans, and 176 work for the OIG. As the Postal Service says on its website, “We value the leadership, reliability, and high-tech skills veterans bring to the organization, as well as their loyalty and integrity."
